India and Australia Accelerate Trade Deal Negotiations Amid Growing Economic Ties
India and Australia are intensifying efforts to finalize a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), building on the existing Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) enacted in December 2022. Commerce Ministry officials highlighted progress in discussions covering goods, services, and investment flows during recent talks.
Bilateral trade reached $24.1 billion in FY25, fueled by consistent export growth from India. Meanwhile, Trade Minister Piyush Goyal signaled imminent progress on a separate free trade pact with New Zealand during Auckland meetings, though US tariff disputes remain unresolved.
